Choosing a heat pump

Choosing the right heat pump for your home heating and cooling needs is easy with our simple guide to choosing a heat pump.

What is a heat pump?

A heat pump or air conditioner (they're essentially the same thing), transfers heat from the air outside your home to the air inside your home. This has the effect of warming your home up as heat is moved inside.

By running the heat pump in reverse as an air conditioner, the opposite happens. Heat is removed from the air inside your home and transferred to the air outside your home. This then has the effect of cooling your home.

Which type of heat pump?

You have three main options when choosing a heat pump. You can choose a floor console type heat pump or a wall mounted heat pump which, are usually mounted just underneath the ceiling on the wall. For whole home heating and cooling, you can opt for a ducted heat pump.

Floor console heat pumps are extremely efficient at heating the air in your home. This is due to them being installed low down, forcing the warm air to rise naturally throughout the room and eliminating cold toes.
